Senior Cognos Business Analytics Consultant

LPA has an immediate opening for a senior level Cognos Business Analytics Consultant. This position is primarily responsible for delivering and implementing Cognos-based Business Intelligence Solutions including:

  • Gathering business requirements
  • Conducting business intelligence and business information needs analyses
  • Performing installation, configuration and testing of business intelligence software
  • Using Cognos for reporting, security and data warehousing
  • Designing, developing and implementing prototypes
  • Providing sales support by attending sales meetings and presenting to prospective customers
  • Delivering on-site end user technical training and providing technical sales support

Mandatory Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills 
  • Proven ability to work independently or on a team as required 
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks as well as changing priorities
  • Master's Degrees in Computer Science, Engineering or Business Administration
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the IBM Cognos 10.X suite of software with particular emphasis on Report Studio and Framework Modeling
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts
  • Minimum of 3 years business consulting and 5 years experience with Cognos Business Intelligence
  • Experience with Cognos ETL Tools such as Decision Stream / Data Stage are a plus

Cognos Business Analytics Consultant 

LPA has immediate openings for experienced Cognos BI Consultants. You will deliver high quality consulting services in the full range of Cognos enterprise-wide Business Intelligence tools and be expected to perform the following:

  • Perform analysis of reporting requirements 
  • Design and develop Business Intelligence reporting solutions 
  • Review complex modeling situations and implement solutions using framework manager 
  • Perform startup services for new customers including prototypes and pilot project programs 
  • Advise customers on best practices for BI deployments 
  • Develop close relationships with managers in client's IT and business departments 
  • Provide knowledge-transfer services to customers 

Mandatory Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the IBM Cognos Business Intelligence 8.4 and 10.X suite of software with particular emphasis on Report Studio and Framework Modeling. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the delivery of services as a BI consultant. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills

Associate Cognos Business Analytics Consultant 

Become the newest member of a fast growing, dynamic business analytic consulting team delivering solutions using one of the industry’s best and most respected technologies.  LPA has immediate and multiple openings for Associate Consultants in Rochester, New York.

The position will allow you to grow your technical and consulting skills through a combination of training, mentoring and hands-on experience.  It will also provide an opportunity to apply your business and technical knowledge to analytics problems in a variety of industries including Hospitality, Health Care and Manufacturing. You will be expected to perform the following duties:

  • Devise, develop, test and deliver operational and analytical IBM Cognos-based business analytics solutions
  • Work under the direction and guidance of the Director of Consulting, the Director of Operations, and a Senior Consultant
  • Achieve specific growth, certification, and delivery objectives intended to guide growth throughout the career, from Associate all the way to Senior Architect

Mandatory Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Intelligence or Business Administration (minor and/or electives in software development a plus)
  • Pre-graduation work experience required
  • Advanced personal computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office (Post-graduation work experience a plus)

Senior TM1 Financial Performance Management Consultant 

LPA has an immediate opening for Senior IBM/Cognos TM1 Consultants delivering high value business and technical consulting services. Technical consulting will cover the Cognos FPM suite including Cognos TM1 . Business consulting will include the full lifecycle of solution definition as well as project and engagement management. You will be expected to perform the following duties:

• Perform business consulting including the elicitation and analysis of business requirements financial planning and forecasting solutions
• Provide presales support for the sales organization including presenting demos to prospective customers and performing startup services for new customers including prototypes and pilot project programs
• Design and implement Financial Performance Management solutions
• Actively seek additional services revenue across the client organization
• Develop close relationships with executives and managers in client's IT and business departments
• Provide knowledge-transfer services to customers

Mandatory Skills and Experience:

• A minimum of 3 years experience in Finance/Accounting
• Extensive experience with implementing Cognos TM1 including cube building and use of Turbo IntegratorExcellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills

• Related college degree or equivalent experience
• IBM/Cognos TM1 Solution Developer certification

Senior SPSS Advanced Business Analytics Consultant 

LPA has an immediate opening for a Predictive Analytics Consultant. You will deliver high quality business and predictive analytics consulting services, and be expected to perform the following duties:

• Perform business consulting including the elicitation and analysis of the business understanding phase of the Predictive Analytics project.
• Manipulate data from various data sources. Build statistical and algorithmic models in support of strategic sales objectives and the Agent Growth Model.
• Utilize statistical software such as SPSS Modeler to perform complex analysis of agent performance, target markets, customer behavior, industry trends.
• Develop predictive and descriptive models using advanced procedures that include statistical modeling, association, classification, forecasting, and segmentation analysis.
• Provide presales support for the sales organization to present demos to prospective customers.
• Perform startup services for new customers including prototypes and pilot project programs.
• Perform installation and configuration of SPSS Modeler software on customer hardware (both client and server).
• Actively seek additional services revenue across the client organization

Mandatory Skills and Experience:
• Proficient use of statistical modeling software, preferably SPSS Modeler

Senior Data Warehouse Consultant 

LPA has immediate openings for a Senior Data Warehouse Consultants. Responsibilities will cover all aspects of the life cycle of ETL solution. You will be required to perform the following:

  • Gather client functional and technical requirements
  • Capable of working with client to develop a strategy that supports current and future needs
  • Design, implement and document Data Warehouse solutions according to best practices
  • Establish development standards and establish quality processes to deliver stable and reliable solutions
  • Lead Data Warehouse teams
  • Validate that the design and end solution meets the specified requirements 
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure the customer expectations are managed effectively
  • Work with the Account Manager to identify new opportunities
  • Manage the acceptance process for the technical architecture, design and implementation with the client
  • Provide onsite knowledge transfer
  • Provide sales support.
  • Provide estimates for sales opportunities that are realistic and achievable.
  • Mentoring of junior consultants

Mandatory Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years experience of installing, configuring and implementing IBM Infosphere Suite (Data Stage, Quality Stage)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data warehousing concepts
  • Demonstrated expertise in data modeling and complex ETL design expertise
  • Demonstrated expertise of SQL, PL/SQL and databases and ability to monitor and optimize queries and database performance 
  • Ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries, procedures and functions
  • Experience in database change management and data management through various stages of the development life cycle
  • Good business aptitude and problem solving skills
  • Ability to teach and perform knowledge transfer
  • Team player and the ability to communicate effectively and develop strong client relations
