Although the client is a $300 to $400 million-dollar company, they had no enterprise-wide management solutions for controlling inventory, sales transaction data, and customers. The management team was using demand planning, financial budgeting, and forecast reporting processes that were labor intensive and lacked collaboration.
Managers had no real-time insight into operations and financial data. They would often keep accounts personnel on lengthy phone calls to answer specific questions with details from outdated reports. The finance department spent much of its time updating monthly Excel reports, which were then distributed to business departments.
LPA recommended the purchase and implementation of IBM Planning Analytics across the entire company. Planning Analytics is a business intelligence and planning platform with integrated modules for reporting, analysis, planning, and budgeting, specifically designed for mid-sized companies.
The LPA team designed and developed an enterprise-wide budgeting and forecasting solution using TM1. This solution also had automatic integration from ERP data sources. Dashboards and real-time web reports were created, which gave all employees access to drill down. Forecasts and budgets are now done collaboratively online.
